Tompkins County


As of a 2006 esimate, the population of Tompkins county was 100,407. The county comprises the entire Ithaca metropolitan area. The county seat is Ithaca, which is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College. The county is named in honor of Daniel D. Tompkins.  He served as Governor of New York and Vice President of the United States.
